Only a brief comparison of two top-notch watches ABC:-the core and the titanium Casio Pathfinder paw-1500, that buy just over three weeks ago as well. I would say, the cosmetic design, rich functionality, the accuracy of ABC and the graphical display of the nucleus, is better than the Pathfinder. However, the material of construction, readability and press the button, is not as good as the Pathfinder.
The display is in reverse format, namely the background is black, and alpha-numeric letters are white-silver. Adjusting the contrast in Suunto Help menu hidden, but of course still not clear how the normal letter black on white background. Through no fault of the Suunto, but just the way you design. The buttons are responsive and easy to press. To navigate through the menus, "Mode" button and the "show" button must be pushed into a different combination of getting what you want. It might seem confusing at first, but once you understand the logical layout, it is quite easy to remember. Give yourself a couple of days to get used to it.
I have worn this watch for a two-week trip in Eastern Europe. I used all ABC functions intensively, particularly the altimeter and compass. For starters, all reads are extremely precise, as has always been. The only inaccuracy is the barometer when worn on the wrist, which is understandable due to the influence of body temperature. The clock has worked flawlessly during extreme weather, ranging from 1 degree Celsius (external), all the way up to warmer than 40 degrees Celsius (bore pool hotspring for hours). I also used the daily alarm, twice daily, lighting for a night on average 3 times and the battery is still kicking like a champion. Many reported that the battery died after a month or so even with the use of light, it seems that Suunto has fixed this flaw. Still, it was only a month of intensive, so I can't say for sure. Also if you need to replace the battery every 6 months, I think it's still worth it as the battery costs less than a couple of dollars to replace. So, my conclusion is: The Core recovered his reputation in my book. I have no doubt that it will continue to perform well. Just make sure that you buy the one with the latest firmware (after serial number: 92xxxxxx HW SW: 1.1.0: 3A. Please rate and comment if you found it useful
